EDIT: So, they're letting me get away with being on "busy" all day (i.e., not answering the phones).

On the other hand, they're all making fun of me. D: How cruel, how cruel!

So really, I feel fine.

But there feels like there's this huge pressure inside my throat, pushing out, and so I can't talk above a whisper.

I log into the phones in about five minutes.

Maybe I could convince my boss to let me NOT log into the phones today as I work? ;;;;;

Also, I got an offer to do a translation for a scanlating group. I would really like to, because I like the book in question very much! BUT MY JAPANESE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH SOMEONE HELP.

DEFINITELY ask not to use phones. If you can't talk, you can't talk.

Also, that sounds like a good chance to improve your Japanese. Maybe ask for another translator to consult with? A good dictionary + someone to bother with questions = wonders. ♥

So now I am here-but-not, according to the phones, woo. XD

I asked them to see if one of their other translators is willing to look over my rough script and see if there's any glaring errors; my big problem is subtleties in grammar. ... hell, even in English, my weakest point is subtleties in grammar. Damn. XD

My entire workplace is awesome. At our last department meeting of the year, he dressed up as Santa, and the other managers as disgruntled Christmas elves. I got chased from my desk by an elf with a gun to take a picture with Santa.

That is the thing -- I'm awesome with vocab. Vocab is easy for me. Grammar is ... not so much. Buuu. D:

I would say try to not do the phone thing. Other than that, if you feel like you can function... >_> Then again, I'm kind of "omg! I'm not dying! I'm there!"

And I think you could do a fine job as a translator. Let them know it'd take you a while.

Yeah, but I just got a call from a ProCare dealer, and I had to let my voice mail pick it up, because well. I STILL CAN'T TALK, EVEN FOR PROCARE. :(

That's the saddest part, though; I feel FINE. I just can't talk over a hoarse whispery-wheeze. >_>

That's the worst part, I'm not feeling sick-sick (though we'll see tomorrow, ahah >_>), just ... unable to speak. My throat goes through periods of just feeling blocked, and then hurting a little. I got nothing!

That would be awesome, thank you. :) It turns out that the group DOES have proofreaders/editors, which is good, because otherwise, well. People would've been treated to a very roughly put-together elementary translation. XD;
