EDIT: So, they're letting me get away with being on "busy" all day (i.e., not answering the phones).
On the other hand, they're all making fun of me. D: How cruel, how cruel!
/EDIT
So really, I feel fine.
But there feels like there's this huge pressure inside my throat, pushing out, and so I can't talk above a whisper.
I log into the phones in about five minutes.
...
Maybe I could convince my boss to let me NOT log into the phones today as I work? ;;;;;
Also, I got an offer to do a translation for a scanlating group. I would really like to, because I like the book in question very much! BUT MY JAPANESE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH SOMEONE HELP.

Also, that sounds like a good chance to improve your Japanese. Maybe ask for another translator to consult with? A good dictionary + someone to bother with questions = wonders. ♥

HIM: "You know what the best thing for a situation like this is?"
ME: "?"
HIM: "You have to get a new throat to replace the old one. But the next-best alternative is not talking."
So now I am here-but-not, according to the phones, woo. XD
I asked them to see if one of their other translators is willing to look over my rough script and see if there's any glaring errors; my big problem is subtleties in grammar. ... hell, even in English, my weakest point is subtleties in grammar. Damn. XD

Y-yeah, that's my weak spot, too, especially since I'm so new to it. I'm just kind of like… but shouldn't that mean that? and sensei is like no. No, it shouldn't. :|

disgruntledChristmas elves. I got chased from my desk by an elf with a gun to take a picture with Santa.That is the thing -- I'm awesome with vocab. Vocab is easy for me. Grammar is ... not so much. Buuu. D:

And I think you could do a fine job as a translator. Let them know it'd take you a while.

HOWEVER THERE IS ALWAYS AIM?
I've asked them to see if there's another translator or an editor I can work with for it, but ... it looks like I'm going to go for it! [airpunch] FIGHT ON, ME!

Yay! Fight! Fight!

So I wrote "HELP" and then he laughed at me. :<
FIGHT ON FIGHT ON, FIGHT-- I really shouldn't be looking this up at work. My computer doesn't support Japanese text and, er. It's BL. XD
BUT IT'S DORKY IDIOTIC VAMPIRES, HOW CAN I RESIST.

Um. No, probably not. Not for work computers, that.
You can't, but try at least for while you're at work.

I'm not even logged into my phone. AND I DON'T HAVE TO BE. And all is good :D
And I'm on the other side of the floor from you :D Feel better!

That's the saddest part, though; I feel FINE. I just can't talk over a hoarse whispery-wheeze. >_>
Welcome back to the second floor~

If you have any specific questions on Japanese (vocab or grammar), feel free to ask. kawaiigami @ gmail.com

That would be awesome, thank you. :) It turns out that the group DOES have proofreaders/editors, which is good, because otherwise, well. People would've been treated to a very roughly put-together elementary translation. XD;

NYAH!!!
Teeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaa...
Give me some XMas gift ideas so I can have something for you under the tree Monday morning. ^_^
Keep in mind I'm probably going to head out tomorrow or Sunday morning. So nothing too complex. ~_o

Re: NYAH!!!
I DON'T KNOW, BECAUSE I FAILED AT GETTING YOU SOMETHING TOO. (So if I tell you, you'll tell me something, riiiiight?)
And then, I need to go think about this. XD;

Are there any English-language manga or domestic anime DVDs you've been coveting? ^_^
