This is trufax, though. I actually would have not believed it if I hadn't seen it myself.

I've been very tempted to find the address to Watase Yuu for fan mail and get one of my good-at-Japanese friends to translate a quick letter of support for her, since it's so sad reading the author commentaries how she's apparently getting people saying she should make it more like the first FY.

She's got at least one explicit (well, artistically so, but that's definitely sex going on) BL story to her published name, and it's very recognizable as her style, and ... gosh.

I had no idea, but I find this hilarious. 8D

OH SHE MOST CERTAINLY IS. That is totally Watase Yuu's name and art I'm seeing attached to this story.

I'm ... preeeeetty sure Fushigi Yuugi was my first subtitled, saw-it-the-whole-way-through anime. I always remember JOKING about subtext in her stuff, but ... dude.

Coupled with the fact that in Genbu Kaiden, the main male love interest turns into a girl when his power is triggered, I gotta say I'm pretty impressed!

Nonono, what it was was that she summoned Genbu and everything was shiny times because she saved the kingdom, and got sent home. HOWEVER, Genbu started to possess her once she was back on her world, like with what started to happen with Yui. To stop Genbu from taking over our world, her father killed her and himself, burning their house down with them inside of it. But not before passing the book on to his good friend, Suzuno's father.

But basically, yeah. No happy ending can come from this.

Oh good, so I'm not the only one who went "WTH?FTW!" when that got posted. XD Thinking about FY now, it WAS kind of gay in parts... Like the Nakago and Tamahome scene towards the end... And then there's Nuriko... *cries in a corner* But it's still surprising seeing her drawing outright yaoi...

I dunno if it's exactly "selling out" -- I remember she was very open to the idea of Tamahome/Tasuki back when the original Fushigi Yuugi was new(-ish), so it might be less of "selling out" and more of "giving into the inevitable."

... which, considering this is yaoi, is highly ironic and therefore even funnier to me. XD

Oh, Fushigi Yuugi definitely had subtext going on, but Watase never actually DID anything with her m/m pairings, though she went pretty far(-ish) with the m/f sex. AND YET THERE IT WAS, and I laughed.

Genbu Kaiden is actually really good, and it surprised me! I can't take the old Fushigi Yuugi any more, but Takiko is actually an intelligent heroine, and her relationship with Uruki is a lot more poignant [and funnier, given that Uruki turns into a woman when he uses his power] in some ways. I like it! XD
