Mouse is totally smarter than Harry or Thomas, and recognizes that getting his nails clipped is a Good Thing. XD At the same time, I think it would be sort of terrifying to try and wrestle a ponydog into submission.
Also I totally imagine that all the parents of the Trio were simultaneously happy and infuriated when the kids came tumbling home, which leads to all sorts of potential hilarity. XD
