So, in today's session! The diplomats did lots of talking--even if they occasionally did dumb things, too (like oh, say, getting so soused at the captain's party that they didn't hear the engines grinding to a nasty change :D), and Ed was pretty much NOT DOING ANYTHING except for a lot of studying and researching. That works too, though. ♥
In summary: our FMA D&D game is set roughly five years after the "present" of the series, with Ed and Al the same as they have been (i.e., not "fixed"). At this time, the country (arbitrarily named by our GM) has finally formed peace with a country to the east--"Saruno," and yes, it IS the pun that some of you are thinking. ♥
Peace talks have begun with Saruno, and thus a diplomat is being sent overseas to negotiate. Roy, now promoted to Brigadier General, sends Ed and Al along as part of the diplomat's honor convoy (Ms. Elena Blackstone, at your service!); Saruno is more advanced in technology, but it's only JUST started experimenting with alchemy--at the same time, there have been rumors of a Philosopher's Stone facsimilie/substitute that are floating around in that country.
At this juncture, we're still on the ship. We've just gotten through a would-be mutiny (only, the captain of the ship was involved) where the "patriots" of Saruno are not happy about the idea of peace talks, and have tried to take care of the diplomats AND the alchemists. The captain is currently very squished and dead, which means his first mate was promoted to field captain. As of the end of this game, we have been accosted by another Sarunese ship--though the engines of that have just died, so therefore we're stalled until the next time we play. :D
Anyway, so, quotelist! With some explanations. :D
"There are so many soldiers around we assume are on our side, so we're perfectly safe! :D" (Captain Coyle) [After the mutiny failed, we found out two of the lifeboats had gone, taking the survivors of the mutiny with them. It's the next morning, and all's well. Because obviously, we have TOP NOTCH military people in charge of our safety. He may be head of the honor guard, but brilliant, he is apparently not. Roy, what kind of people are you assigning to your diplomat ... ?]
"Is this pointing north? Is it supposed to be pointing north?" ("Sakura") [OOC moment; the Sarunese diplomat, Sakura, tries to figure out if the broken navigation system is working properly again.]
"Awww, they're all the old farts holding grudges!"
"... see, this is why I do the talking." ("Coyle" and "Elena") [OOC moment; Captain Coyle, the head of Elena's honor guard, complaining about the people who incited and fought against "our" side in the mutiny.]
"We want to root his loom!" (Terra) [I couldn't speak tonight. I WANTED to say that we were gonna loot a guy's room for information, and garbled it. Blargh. :D]
"Look! I figured out where the explosives on the ship were by setting them of in my face!" (Ann) [So, Sakura, our Sarunese translator/diplomat, was trying to investigate the dead captain's room for anything suspicious. What she found was an unknown explosive compound--which is what Ed and Al spent most of this session studying--that kind of blew up in her face. :D]
"Just tell me what skills you have, you scary librarian." (Our GM XD) [Well, see, Sakura's got TEH MAD SKILLZ. She's got SO many points, they pretty much maxed her out in everything. So everytime we need to have someone who knows how to do something, she raises her hand; it's gotten to a point where we snark that it's better to ask what she DOESN'T have. XD]
"What sort of security issues?"
"The desk sort of blew up on me." (Kuroyama and Sakura) [The captain of the other ship, curious about the so-called mutiny and how our story was so different from the one he'd previously heard. Sakura, our charming and eloquent translator, explains why her face looks like someone took a board to it. :D;;;;;;]
"They were talking, and I see *horns*, and a *tail*. One of them starts talking, and the other's tail starts wagging." (Dora) [Personal comment, while our GM and the newest addition to the group, who often think scarily alike, put their heads together and started cackling.]
"NO! I'm for Roy only, it says so on my undies! >:EEEEEE" ("Coyle") [Okay, so the running joke is that Captain Coyle is a diehard fanatic fanboy of Roy's, and that the reason he snarks at Fullmetal so much is because, and I quote again, "he wants to be Roy's little monkey!" --including a joke that Coyle wears a thong that says "R.F.R."--"Reserved For Roy." So when I joked about Coyle getting stars for Kuroyama, I got fanged at. :D]
"Can I go back and screw it up? :D" (Charlie) [The game ended before certain things people wanted to get to COULD be, because Charlie rolled a natural 20 at one point. Disappointed, he wanted to fix his mistake, but no, it was midnight-thirty and everyone went to pass out. :D;;;;;]
