Proof that the Dumb Beast (a.k.a. the dog) is not as stupid as we sometimes think:

Me: [working on homework, with back to the doorway and the living room]
Dog: ...... [gets up, walks into living room. stops]
Me: [peers out from behind the dog]
Dog: [standing and leaning into the big green chair, a.k.a. Mommy's Chair, a.k.a. GET DOWN FROM THERE RIGHT NOW] ... [trots back and lies down behind me]

This is after he's been caught several times trying to get up in the mommychair. The cat may've claimed the papasan for his own, but the dog still tries. Oh, he tries.

Also, daffodils and cherry blossoms are so much prettier than other flowers. I say this because the entire quad at the UW is filled with blossoming cherry trees, and when I walk home, I'm constantly inundated with both flowers, and I have to say -- yeah. Yeah. They really are lots prettier, especially up close. Cherry blossoms just come in these pretty little pink-and-white clusters, while daffodils never seem to bruise or blemish. Even the trampled ones aren't so bad.

Magnolias, on the other hand, turn a really ugly shade of rust/dried-blood brown when you step on 'em.

... English paper. Riiiight.
