Get back the good feelings!

I AM FILLED WITH LOVE and also cookies. Trader Joe's still has their peppermint Jo-Jos in stock, which I love with this unreasonable burning passion. I bought three boxes to be certain. Last year, I bought a single box. When I went back the next week to get more, I was told that some lady had come in, not an hour before me, and bought every single box in the store. I growled. :|b

But the real thing is that chirachira and I rewatched the first few DVDs of GetBackers last night. (Up through episode ... uh. [handwave] The end of Madoka's introduction.) I AM REFILLED WITH LOVE FOR THIS SERIES. I think it may honestly be the bar I set my shounen standards by: guys with ridiculous powers, dramatic fights, DORKLOVE TO THE MAX. It's the point where I almost feel a little sorry for anyone who can't follow something like this, because it just makes me so incredibly HAPPY. \o/ Silly plot-twists, too-long fights, deii ex machinae, gratuitous fanservice (women AND men!), I love it all.

I love Ginji for being a character with a difficult and unhappy past who genuinely has moved on with his life, and smiles and means it, and for being ridiculously cute and stupid while still actually being a charismatic, caring, and competant leader, for chosing to follow because he WANTS to, rather than being forced to.

I love Ban for being a prickly bastard that no one likes, not even the girl who's got a crush on him -- EXCEPT for the guy that everyone loves and how much he actually wants to be worthy of Ginji's adoration on some level, and for being a good guy somewhere in his core, and for his really stupid posturing and utter Mary Sueness on occasion.

I love Kadsuki for being so delicately pretty and still being one of THE most brutal characters of the series (sewing a man's eyes and mouth shut y/y?); and Shido for his OMG RIVALRY!! with Ban and how utterly smitten he is with Madoka; and Madoka herself for being tiny and delicate and still kicking the scary Protector in the balls for being mean to Ginji; and Makubex for all his utter ambiguity on real-or-not and his motives for IL; and Paul for being snarky and insightful and Ban's daddy-figure and Natsumi for being one of the cutest things ever and Hevn for being a gratuitous design and still being the most professional character; and Himiko for always losing her clothes and THEN kicking ass; and Akabane for -- being Akabane damnit and I could go on and on and ON. I love that we never did find out the ultimate outcome of the first Ban vs Raitei fight, that Ginji chooses a world with his friends (a world with Ban) when essentially given the power of God.

I love that ultimately GetBackers is about two guys who've had horrible sucky lives up till the point where they met each other, and decided that to hell with their angst, they were gonna run off into the sunset together and BE HAPPY~ and even when their pasts occasionally catch up to them, they always come through with a happy ending.

I love that after everything, the series ends just like it should have, with the GetBackers running of into the sunset together on their way to another retrieval job.

I know it has its faults. I know it has multiple points you can criticize. I don't care.

The series makes me happy, to a point where I can happily point and giggle about the most inane things ("I love how he smiles in this shot!" "I want to icon this!" "SHE'S SO CUUUUUTE~ ToT") and THAT MEANS IT IS AWESOME.
