HELLO FRIENDS!
I HAVE THE MOST SERIOUS OF QUESTIONS.
If someone says to you, "I hope you live a long time," do you think of it as
A) A sort of weird way to say "have a nice day
or
B) A THREATENING THREAT THAT IS DEFINITELY A THREAT WORTH CALLING THE SHERIFF OVER OH MY GOD.
If you answered B, you may be my afternoon bus driver.
The story is basically: so, you ride a bus regularly, you start recognizing faces! One guy that I recognized had forgotten his wallet at work! One lady I recognized offered to loan him bus fare, since they ride the bus all the time, etc. The guy tells her that he'll ask if he can ride for free, and if the driver says yes, he'll give her the money back.
The bus arrives, and the guy asks, and the driver says no (since the guy's got the lady's money in hand). Okay, cool. The guy pays, and tells the driver "I hope you live a long time."
And the bus driver goes ballistic. He starts yelling WAS THAT A THREAT? THAT WAS A THREAT WASN'T IT? I'M CALLING THE COPS, THAT WAS A THREAT!! ... meanwhile, the guy had gone on, not realizing that the driver was flipping out at him until the driver started yelling at him. The guy tries to explain hey, no, I'm not threatening you :? and goes to sit down. Everyone is seated, and then the driver calls the sheriff. And tells the dispatcher how this guy was TOTALLY THREATENING HIM! OH MY GOD SEND SOMEONE OVER RIGHT AWAY!! HE WAS SOOOOO BEING THREATENED!
The guy realizes that oh my god, the bus driver is seriously crazy and is like, dude, uh, no, I was just--but let me--hey now--you realize you're holding up this entire bus, right? The lady who loaned him the money is trying to explain too, she gave him the money, it's cool, she's not worried about it, etc.
And to his (very very very little) credit, the bus driver finally seemed to realize he'd overreacted and called the sheriff's office BACK, being like hup whoops we got it worked out, IT'S COOL? BUT WHEN A DEPUTY ARRIVES HE GOES AND IS PRETTY ... UNREPENTANTLY POINTING FINGERS. And the lady tells the deputy that showed up that it was all a misunderstanding and that the young man did nothing wrong. The deputy talks to him briefly (off the bus), then leaves and indicates we can go.
In conclusion it was horrendously awkward and made me INCREDIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE!! because bus driver was a slightly overweight busy-bearded sunglasses-and-shorts-wearing white guy and the young man was a slim good-looking African-American.
L O L.
Anyway, so I am also still mondo stressed about Life Things I talked about in this blog previously, but AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH PUNCHINGS IN THE FACE.
