Oh, god, I'm so glad it's not just me -- I have friends who love this game, people whose opinions I really respect, and ... it just does nothing for me. I don't dislike the game, but I certainly feel like it was not worth the money I shelled out for it; for me, a grand epic story like that needs to have SOME human element, or -- I mean. How much can we actually relate to a disposed princess trying to reclaim her country, just on the flat storytelling level? In my opinion, they really rather failed on getting the characters to really stick, or be as three-dimensional as ... well, half my flist thinks, and then I feel bad. XD;;;;

But yeah, for my money? Shadow Hearts and its sequels are definitely my RPG of choice. :\ Hell, I started playing Tales of the Abyss, and in about four hours of gameplay, I've had a lot more fun with it than in the sixty-odd hours of FFXII. ^^; (My favorite kinds of games are the ones where it's like an RPG-style story, but you can run around and hit things; turn-based systems are sort of ... well. Prosaic for me? XD)

AND IT'S NOT LIKE STUPID FUNNY ISN'T GOOD TOO SOMETIMES. :D I think I may forgive bad drama better than I can forgive bad comedy, but -- what, I love stupidly funny things, I ADMIT IT. I just like it when they use that to disguise the fact that they're going to hit you with a spikey bat in about five minutes. :Db
