I just spent the past two hours reading depressing and terrifying news articles. Pandemics to come, parents dying, wars and the whole sad shaky unstable way of the world today.

And maybe it's a small and petty and pathetic thing, but hey guys?

Tell me something nice, or something that makes you happy. Please?

...damnit I knew someone would get to it first. :D
That site is made of happy time though. <3

When I'm down, I just think of all my friends and how they accept me and understand me despite me being who I am, and how that can make just about anything bearable. Luckily, you have the same group of friends and then some!

Why do you think I keep all these pictures of you guys all happy and smiling in the sunshine at my desk? :)

From: [identity profile] shadawyn.livejournal.com

Okay, upon reflection, I know my response in corny.

BUT IT'S STILL SO VERY TRUE.

Honestly, one of the rather mundane things that makes me happy is reading my flist. I have so many awesome friends on here, so many I've met IRL that I just trust and love, that it makes it so much better to talk to them. I know we're not like, really close friends and haven't known each other for very long but if you ever want to talk you can hit me up any time. ♥

Also, reading happyfic works too. :)

I am not only allowed but encouraged and requested by my work to bring my dog in so he can terrorize the elderly.

I love the smell of oven-fresh bread and just-brewed coffee that envelopes you when you step into a tiny local bakery. It reminds me that life doesn't have to be lived at breakneck speed.

I think the happiest, most beautiful thing I've ever seen was a new dad holding his tiny baby girl for the first time. He wouldn't let go of her and he couldn't stop smiling. When the nurses had to take footprints, they stamped his arms with her feet too, so he could show off his baby's tiny feet like tattoos. It almost made me cry.

Something that makes me happy, eh?

Well, for starters, this icon makes me happy. XD I'm happy that I'm out of class for the summer. I'm happy that I get to game today, and I'm happy we got to have such a Who-binge this week. I'm happy that I'll be going home this weekend and seeing my family, but I'm also very happy that I have such a great group of friends (and such an awesome, funny, good-hearted, smart, and understanding roommate) to look forward to coming back to.

I'm happy that the sun is shining and that someone has already linked icanhascheezburger.com. I'm happy to be alive, even in this mixed-up, fixed-up, topsy-turvy world of ours, and I'm happy to be your friend. ♥

What I love best is walking around Seattle, seeing all the neat architecture, and wonderful plant life (serious, is there anything that WONT grow here?) and then the sun comes out a little and that perfect song comes on and you can't help but grin.

As a stand by, yummy food and a favorite childhood movie always make my day better. With pajamas.

What makes the Katie happy

--Watching the cute shows on Animal Planet (not the animal cops stuff, but things with cute baby animals and stories about animals that have been adopted/been rescued/helped people).

--Making a bowl of popcorn and reading a book I've read so many times I know the characters like I know myself.

--Reading a fairy tale.

--Talking to people I haven't spoken to in a while and being reminded that even if we don't get to talk much, they care about me.

--Managing to do something I thought would be really difficult.

As someone has said, even if we haven't known each other too long, I'm here if you want to email/IM about stuff. My LJ name is my standard username most places, and I have both yahoo and gmail.

One of my superiors at work told me when I was leaving today that they really appreciated everything I did and that I was doing a good job. ...Since I work with kids and I'm terrified I'm going to do something terribly wrong every five minutes that made me feel so awesome.

Also the kids in general make me happy, when they're not trying to greviously injure one another/drive me up a wall/etc ♥

...my life this summer is basically work and bum around home reading, so that'll do for now |D

Other than the cat macros, llama song, etc?

I think about all the things I'm currently looking forward to.

For example... At the moment, the very-near to near (within the next several months) future contains:
* Getting a manicure and pedicure (today after work!)
* A week in Vegas (next week!)
* Getting kitties (July)
* Working the MS company picnic's puzzle event (July)
* Meet-up with a bunch of online friends (August)
* PAX, with another JoCo concert (August)
* Chris' birthday to plan (October)
* NaNoWriMo (November)
* Visiting my dad, and bringing Chris along (November)
* Visiting Chris' parents again for Xmas

Not to mention random fun weekends, spending time with people, etc. :D

happy?

It's cool and foggy here for the first time since last august. It's almost like having seasons. <3 Also, my baby brother has learned enough writing to send me little letters. THAT HE WROTE HIMSELF. clearly he is the most remarkable child ever to have been born to man.

It has been posited that Arashi fans are the happiest people on earth. (http://darkeyedwolf.livejournal.com/226332.html)

You know arashi, right? (http://darkeyedwolf.livejournal.com/219056.html) (kind of picture-heavy, as a heads-up.)

Steven Colbert and John Stewart always make me feel better about being an american, when the fact that our government is made of morons gets me down. Cause hey! There are smart people with common sense here! <3 It restores some of my tattered faith in humanity, particularly after watching "real" news programs.

If all else fails, tea makes everything better. There's never a situation that's NOT helped by tea of some sort.

Honestly? Secluded cafe's with freshly baked bread and pastries and coffee. At Christmas, with the Christmas music playing all soft.

I'm not a religious person, but there's something about Christmas time that makes me all happy and stuff. So whenever I'm REALLY down I go make myself some tea and play some Christmas music. Corny and nostalgic, but it makes me go all warm and fuzzy inside.

Having lived inland most of my life (and in a desert no less, regardless of how much of an oasis Las Vegas really is in many ways), coming here to Long Beach? Even if it was just for AX originally? That seemingly endless stretch of ocean reaching way beyond the horizon...

Standing at the edge, bare feet in the sand with the tide lapping at me so it was pushing me back and forth? Even if I knew there was still land far in the distance? I can see why it'd feel like coming home while holding one absolutely still at the same time.
