I'm home! I live! Customs sucked, but con was fantastic for the full day (and like, two hours of the second) I was there! I met lots of people and got accused of being internet famous, and then there was delicious (and really disgustingly cheap o_O) all-you-can-eat sushi. I got complimented on my costume, which was not so much a costume as ... how I normally dress? It was kind of cool. XD However CERTAIN PEOPLE WHO SHOULD NOT BE NAMED like
harukami and
inarticulate kept trying to take my picture. :(
The fools should know that I distort photographs in hideous ways, like seen in the American Ring movie.
BUT HERE I AM NOW, HOME AND AWAY FROM CAMERAS and finally making dinner (o god my stomach hates me D:) and holy crap that's a lot of skipping back to catch up on my flist.
For the record, I am not planning on moving from LJ to IJ anytime soon (though this is something I should think abou when I'm not travel-exhausted), BUT I'm over there as nekokoban -- it's this stupid point of pride that I've managed to keep the same username across all four of the "major" fandom journaling forums (LiveJournal, GreatestJournal, JournalFen, and now InsaneJournal).
... also: it is somehow ridiculously difficult for me to find Koisuru Boukun (The Tyrant Falls in Love) ANYWHERE. I know it's licensed, but my normal avenues couldn't turn up the Japanese volumes available and even Amazon JP wouldn't ship till September.
chirachira looked on IRC and found nothing, which we both found entirely bizarre. TELL ME WHY I'M LOOKING IN THE WRONG PLACES and then direct me to the right ones, please. 8D?
And finally
sharky_chan has posted pictures that I made asked her to draw while she was visiting me♥ If you're on the Catfish filter, then there's a handful of JJ/Christian retardedness, because I'm easily amused like that, and she indulges me♥
OVEN BEEPING MUST MAKE FOOD.

I think you guys took more pictures of me in the space of twenty-four hours than I've had of me in literally years.
I managed to find scans! Now I need to be honest and buy the actual volumes. [airfist]

ALSO I remembered to put you on the filters now! So at some point I really should do a ticky box post. :Db

YAY TICKY BOXES.

Naturally, the first question will have to be TICKY BOX Y/N.

Followed by TICKY MIKK Y/N.

TICKY MIKK Y/Y but only from a distance, as I do not want to die. D:

THAT'S RIGHT HE CAN'T. Which is awesome, and I will just have to make sure I maintain the literal high ground from now on!

Um, what volumes of it are you looking for, specifically? I have a bunch.... oh, wait. D: I have them on my other computer that is now netless, dammit. But check out the takanaga hinako lj comm, they've been posting the latest scans of it with translations that I don't dare look at because of how low the quality probably is. :X If you still haven't found any by the time I manage to find some way to connect my laptop to the internet (probably not until after I've arrived in Japan) I can post the stuff I have?
And you know, I was looking for the licensed edition, but it's by a publisher that doesn't really get distributed in normal stores in the states, let alone in canada. You'd have to order online for that. I have a friend who swears this is the best american publisher of yaoi manga. (DramaQueen, I think it is.)

I did manage to get a hold of copies of what I THINK is all that's out, unless she's going on to do a volume 4 and that's been scanned anywhere online. I'd like to buy the actual volumes, though, because since I DO have the money, I should supplement any downloadings with purchasing. I found v2 of Koisuru Boukun's prequel at Kinokuniya and was able to get them to order the rest of it, but apparently DramaQueen, even though they licensed Koisuru Boukun a year ago, are still in the "preorder no sign of official release" stage of things. T_____T
YET I STILL LIKE IT, SO YAY.

yaoimanga. ... Oh, who am I kidding, just about the only stuff I read anymore is yaoi manga. XDActually, the thing that bugs me the most about Koisuru Boukun isn't the rape part, it's the fact that both brothers end up gay. XD I just have this thing against everybody in a circle of acquaintances to be a part of the minority sexuality, unless, of course, the reason they became friends is because of that. .... I have the weirdest suspension of disbelief. My sister is annoyed because I have no problem accepting super heroes in a universe, but can't believe that somebody could build a supernova in NYC. (That new Bee Movie that's coming out? MALE BEES ARE JUST DRONES! They wouldn't be the workers! But I'm okay with the talking bee.)[/tangent]
And you know what, there actually are manga without rape in them! :O Go check out Tsumasaki ni Kiss (http://dpscanlations.deathsvertigo.com) or. Um. Oh! Most of the Miyamoto Kano stuff. Liquid-Pleasure does most of those (Rules ♥) but I'm not on their staff so I don't know the URL by heart XD (*cough cough* I MAY have translated the last couple of chapters of Tsumasaki. Yep.)

No, I kind of have that problem too, sometimes -- I've got friends who love the Digital Devil Saga games, right? And I can totally accept that everyone turns into cannibalistic demons and their desperate quest for Nirvana, BUT ... I can't accept that, if everyone suddenly can turn into monsters, there'd be fifty gajillion Pyro Jacks or Pixies or whatevers, when every single focus character has a unique (and usually diety-type) monster they turn into. It's like, if you're going to do something like that, there shouldn't be that many duplicates of a monster-type. IT'S A STUPID THING TO GET HUNG UP ON, AND YET I DO.
I DO know that there's yaoi manga without rape -- I've seen it done, and it's often very cute! It's just that more like seven times out of ten, there WILL be a "I love you = I rape you" scenario, or at least the dubious consent that seme-san has to coax uke-chan into accepting.
When I'm not at work, though, I'll check those links out. XD
