So, despite being a little mopey about my Canada trip falling through, things are pretty good!
chirachira is coming down to spend the new year with me, and we'll likely be very boring and not do a whole lot except hang out and geek -- which in retrospect is actually pretty exciting to me. *g* (Which means! If anyone in the Seattle crew wants to see her while she's here, she'll be leaving in the evening on Tuesday -- the first -- so let me know. :D)
In other news, I've picked up eleven prompts at
springkink, which is about my average, though I've got more at the BEGINNING of the month than the end this time. WE'LL SEE HOW IT GOES \o/ Also been getting my app for the you-know-what beta'd. I am so nervous guys, and I know no one else can be responsible for me, but -- if you hear me wibbling, don't let me get away with it. I am trying very hard NOT to talk myself out of it, but it's only sort of working. XD
Also also also. My god, going and looking at the response for my Yuletide fic has made me ridiculously happy. I'm a little giddy and giggly and I feel like spazzing about it at anyone in particular would make me sound really arrogant so uh. Apparently I'll just spazz at my flist in general: given the amount of trouble I had with the end of that fic in particular, the fact that it's going over so well is just. Some of the nicest comments I've ever had are from this story, and given its peculiar nature, this is kind of really amazing. \o/ \o/ \o/
Since Yuletide has encouraged me and I am feeling particularly like a whore (it's a Friday, and I'mma go see
nightsinger's kitties tonight as well as pick up Chira♥ it's like an embarrassment of cute riches! it'll put anyone in a good mood), lol hay guyz plz r&r my genderswitch Tsubasa fic. I do promise, though, I will keep writing even if no one else does. ;)
AND FINALLY, a meme! Because I've been collecting links to do a "summary of fic posted in 2007" thing for the new year and been kind of boggled at how damn much I talk.
What do you think are the quote-unquote "trademarks" of the fiction and essays that I write? What type of themes or characterization notes or quirks keep on manifesting in my writing? Essentially, what do you think is a stereotypically "my" way of writing?
Or you know what? JUST TALK TO ME. Why has the internet been so slooooooow latelyyyyyyy~ ToT

You have a very natural, easy style that feels real. It's not low-key, it's just...comfortable, enough to where when you yank out an image or a line as a hinge or clincher, it sticks. i.e....oh, I don't know, for some reason, in the fic-thing [...*digs*...] "The Shape in Dreams," the image of Haruka giving Kantarou the goddamn Heimlich maneuver has never left me. DON'T ASK ME WHY. And on a less visual note, um...the little bit in "These Songs Still I Hear" about Kurogane singing. I think I'm really tactile...? Something like that, but images and sensory things snag with me, and the way you write makes them snag all the more deeply because you don't seem to try to make everything snag.
...*blinkblink* I don't know if any of that makes sense, honestly. Theoretically it boils down to, "you write pretty things."
*** Okay so now that I've had time to sit around thinking about NOT shoving my foot in my mouth, I also want to append that anything and everything I say can really and truly be viewed through the lens that I-I admire you greatly, consider you my sempai or onee-san or whathaveyou because-I-don't-know-the-word-in-German. JUST SO YOU KNOW. Not that that's entirely relevant to my garbled comment above. XD

This actually didn't sound bad at all -- I was just very curious to know what people actually identify as something that I'd written. XD And I would be terribly flattered to be your senpai or whatever-you-want, though! I DO NOT KNOW HOW GOOD OF AN EXAMPLE I WOULD SET FOR THE YOUNGER GENERATION. :|b

One thing I've always liked about your writing is how the characters all have distinct personalities, but aren't caricatures. It's not an easy thing to do.
p.s. I've picked up a few prompts too.^^ Should be fun to see how things turn out.

I'm glad to hear you're participating in SK this time 'round! *g* It's good to know all my subtle pimping actually worked out for this. ;)
