nekokoban: (pondering)
( Jan. 23rd, 2006 10:36 am)
It figures that the two-three workshops I really want to go to for Career Week are all when I have class, and as midterms are coming up, I can't afford to miss any of them. >__> Question: is it entirely kosher to e-mail the person running the panels and ask them for this information? Y/N.

And, while I don't really have a "team spirit" bone in my body when it comes to organized sports, I still gotta say YAY SEAHAWKS. |D I work in a sporting goods store, see, so when we won the game last night I had to go trudging in 'round 8:30 (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rivendellrose and [livejournal.com profile] miss_arel for tagging along with me♥) and start with the updating process. Apparently in the space of three hours we got something like 100+ orders through the website, so ... this is good business! Now, can I finagle some sort of bonus is the question! :O

Finished Shadow Hearts over the weekend (GOOD ENDING YEAH BABY), and started the second one, which promptly assumes bad ending. D: I hear it all makes sense at the end, but I sort of miss dorky "I hit it and it falls over! :D :D :D" Yuri vs. this more grumpy emo!Yuri. I did, however, laugh aloud at the use of the emoticons in the game [the (;_;) when Yuri's getting hit on by the gay tailor is fantastic >D], and how a lot of it seems to be making fun of itself. I like things with senses of humor♥ But as of now I'm not too terribly fond of Karin, because she's usually the one who finishes off the last enemy in random encounters and so she always gets her bragging line, but ... she's always the one who dies. >________> Out of the handful of "times unconscious" I have, over half of them are her, and it feels weird when she brags at me after dying. D: Please tell me she gets stronger as the game progresses beyond the usual leveling thing, because yeah.

... on the other hand, I'm not too enamored of the vocalized brag-line at the end of the fight scenes in general, so I try to skip over those (and half the time don't know what I actually recieved from my victories, haha). Except for Blanca's, because it's a happy puppy-whine, and how can I resist that? Unfortunately, with aforementioned midterms coming, I can't justify playing too much this week. T_T

Furthermore, in Tactics -- call me slow, because I usually am -- I've realized that the foreshadowing in that one comedy sidestory of v3 is actually apparently starting to happen (and that, in fact, they are going to use it, rather than red herring it off); there's a panel from the "vision" that is pretty much exactly reproduced in v7.

Essentially in the sidestory, Youko and Haruka adopt a dog (Haruka is a dog person, who knew? "Dogs are ... nice."). Kantarou hates dogs, and is positive that the dog's got it in for him, and ends up trying to exorcise it. The dog claims that it's a "dog robot" send from the future, and as a reward for being set free, he'll grant Kantarou visions of the future, which just come as a jumble of actually very serious scenes -- Hasumi asking if he thinks youkai are "dirty," Sugino talking about how youkai and humans cannot meet, a random lady kissing Kantarou (!!!), some other random woman talking about how she's been having this "sad dream" for years, and then one shot of Haruka covered in blood licking his fingers. The dog disappears, and Kantarou is left a bit shaken, though the story goes back to comedy at the end.

But in v7, the whole issue of youkai being "dirty" or unclean comes up again -- Hasumi asks Kantarou this, it becomes the focus of a fight between Haruka and Kantarou and WHO THE HELL IS THE LADY WHO KISSED KANTAROU and is the crying woman the mysterious "Fuji," and does this mean that we'll get flashbacks of Haruka's past? Plz? Does anyone know when v8 is coming out? D:

I love my fandom, I just wish the manga was more widespread. >______> (Curse you, ADV!) I will get around to doing my own translations soon, promise. Augh.
