I LIVED! (obviously, as I don't think I would be able to master the art of posthumous typing this quickly) It ... kind of sucked! The last three problems, at least, because I could not remember for the life of me how hormones signal transcription. And that sounds kind of bad, but that's how it was.

The whole concept of crossovers with Kingdom Hearts continues to make me go >___> because at heart, I'm secretly one of those giddy little girls who thought it'd be really cool if you threw everyone from her favorite things together and they had a big PARTY. Then again, some things are better suited for crossovers than others; at least in Kingdom Hearts, it seems like the worlds with the really dramatic stories -- good vs. bad, find your place -- are the ones that seem to get used. I mean, there's all the "classic" Disney -- though hey, I notice Snow White's world didn't make it in at all. (Thank god, man, because I hated Disney!Snow White.) I still think you could pull off Silent Hill, though that one will have to wait until I finish the game.

But then I went and read Moonsheen's really awesome fic (and you should go read it if you're a fan of the OT3 because she's seriously fantastic♥) and I thought, huh. "The World That Never Was"-- that's totally like something out of Dream's Realm. (That is, the Sandman, Mr. Gaiman I love you.) We're talking about a group of people that don't technically exist, in a world that's not real, and dreams technically are all about the weird maybe-not-real stuff. (Really, it was Moonsheen's line about the library that made me think this, since Lucien is the librarian of the books never written, and that is so not an enviable task, I feel.)

It's just -- Kingdom Hearts is remarkably good at building this huge epic storyline that doesn't bring in the supernatural, per se; we get the whole "Darkness of Hearts" and Kingdom Hearts itself, but we know that while some Heartless just sort of appeared, a good lot of them were made via experiments. (Great, my major lets me fiddle with chimeras and worse. I feel almost cool. XD) We get little things here and there -- the Olympian gods (though Hades is never "the god of the dead," he's just the LORD of the dead), family guardians, the Aztec curse in the Pirates world -- but there doesn't seem to be much concept of a "higher power" of any sort. Magic is just sort of arbitrarily there and happens.

Ultimately, though, I think in my head that the World that Never Was is just some tiny corner of Dream's Kingdom -- though HOW he would manifest himself in a world whose artstyle is Disney meets Square anyway is anyone's guess -- and really, I think that's sort of cool. (In some ways, it doesn't even feel like an actual crossover, because ... well. The way the whole Sandman mythos is set up, it's just sort of pervasively there, and doesn't need to be "crossed" in order to co-exist. And that made NO SENSE, didn't it? >__> --Essentially, I feel like the Sandman's canon is set up so that you could literally take ANY CANON THAT EVER EXISTED, and it's already part of the Sandman universe, because the Endless aren't just for one universe or whatever; they're Ideas, so wherever you find existence, they're alread there.)

It's all good. |D

... now I am going to ostensibly start my report due Thursday, but we'll see how that works out. 8D
