An observation

--which is to say that I have noticed, in all the last fandoms I can remember, my favorite pairings/dynamic has always the supernatural vs. the mortal, the demon (or youkai) and the human, the immortal and the mortal. In spite of -- or maybe because of -- the inherent tragedy, I have always liked it.

And then today, pandora.com was like "Hey! Let's have a BLAST FROM YOUR PAST" and played (of all things!) Puff the Magic Dragon.

And I remembered that when I was little, and my parents played that song for me, I really liked it, but I always thought there was something horribly tragic about Jackie Paper never coming back. Did he grow up? Did he die? Either way, he moved on in the transient way of mortals, vs. the immortal (Puff) who lives forever, but is sort of stuck where he is, as he is.

Eventually it strikes me that I am thinking way too hard about a children's folk song, and I need to get back to work.
