SO! Not even 9am, and today has been an adventure.
Two things:
* I work in Lynnwood, which is north of Seattle!
* My friend and coworker
rivendellrose lives a few blocks south of me, and thus gets on the bus a few stops before I do, in the mornings.
ON THIS MORNING, as I got on the bus, there was this lady ahead of me! And when
rivendellrose made eye-contact and said hi to me, the lady just--literally she'd gone a step past that row, and then moved back and stole my seat! Then just went '_' when I boggled at her. Okay, no big deal; it's a little annoying, but things like that happen! I move past and sit down somewhere else. Another coworker who gets on the bus at the same time as I do laughed at me about it, and I was just like \o_O/ to him.
AND THEN: these two other guys got involved. I don't know who they are, though one of them kept repeating how he'd seen me before on the bus (I would imagine, this is the only bus I can take and get to work on time), and how I should drag that other woman out of the seat and fight her for it, and one offered to take his hat and smack her until she got up and I'm like "no, no, it's okay, it's not that big a deal ..." And normally I napdoze on my morning bus, but they would not leave me alone, asking if I was upset, then asking what I did for work. I told them I did tech support for websites! This is true!
OSHI SON.
One of them immediately is like YOU CAN BUILD WEBSITES? YOU SHOULD BUILD MINE, HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARAGE, IF I SENT YOU PHOTOS COULD YOU PUT THEM UP, IS IT TRUE HOW PAID-TO-CLICK ADVERTISING WORKS and just. Wouldn't shut up again, even after I agreed to take his phone number (he initially asked for mine, which I diverted), going on and on about his WEBSITE and how it was DESTINY that I happened to sit there on the bus that day. (This is a lie: for some reason, if anyone is going to sit doubled up on the morning bus, they sit next to
rivendellrose, no joke--and I usually sit where I sat today.)
Then we arrived at the Lynnwood Park & Ride and I escaped! Though now it's like, HOW DO YOU TELL AN OVERLY-ENTHUSIASTIC DUDE WHO HAS ALREADY TAKEN YOUR WORD AS GIVEN THAT YOU'RE KIND OF CREEPED OUT BY HIS OVER-ENTHUSIASM, PLEASE TO NOT ASSUME THINGS OF ME.
H-hopefully the rest of the day will not be quite so epic.
