15 Things About Seiryuu
Shounen Onmyouji
This should have been twenty, but I'm kinda braindead, ahahaha. 8D Mostly trying to get used to other characters in the series, because it's also an excuse to do a (very little) with Wakana. Spoilers for the Kazane-Hen, I guess? Though people who've just seen the Kyuuki-Hen of the anime should be okay too!
++++
1. He was not Seimei's first shikigami, nor his first Shinshou -- but he was the first that Seimei named; it bothers him still that Seimei would name others, and that Seimei has to consciously remember to call him "Shouran" when he calls Touda "Guren" so easily.
2. He had not liked Wakana, but he had not disliked her, either. She'd made Seimei happy, and that's the only reason he forgave her for breaking Seimei's heart later.
3. And actually, in his own way, actually, he was as weak to her as he'd been to Seimei: she was such a fragile light thing, he sometimes felt that Byakko's most gentle winds might blow her away. Weakness irritated him then -- still does, really -- but if nothing else, he could admire the strength of her dedication to Seimei, and how she'd never flinched even in Touda's accursed presence.
4. It is not in his nature to forgive, even those that he loves. Seimei forgiving Touda is one such sin; his death by age will be another.
5. Originally, he hadn't been terribly fond of Seimei, either -- it chafed at him to be bound to a human, and such a capriciously stupid one at that.
And then he'd been hurt -- he forgets now exactly what happened, but he remembers opening his eyes to Seimei's pale face, and the sudden, brilliant relief on the silly man's face. There'd been something so incredibly genuine there that, in spite of himself, Seiryuu had found himself moved; before he could recover, he'd found himself dedicated to an idiot human's fragile life.
6. He never liked Touda, even before That Incident; it wasn't fear that motivated him, but sheer instinctive dislike. It gave him a grim satisfaction when Touda finally snapped, but that turned to ash with how easily Seimei forgave him.
7. Actually, he doesn't like Kouchin very much, either. He respects her as a fighter and as a leader, but the fact that she would chose to call Touda a comrade infuriates him.
8. Seimei has, on occasion, bullied him into cooling drinks or rooms during the hottest aprts of summer.
9. He's less of a loner than someone who prefers silence when he's not fighting. As long as his companions aren't making noise, he doesn't care if there the room is full of them.
10. It isn't particularly that he dislikes the youngest grandson more than his brothers: what infuriates him is the idiotic way Seimei dotes on that powerless child, the way that Touda fawns over the stupid thing like it could atone for his past sins. That Seimei would declare this particular grandson his successor just because he had never feared Touda -- it's foolish, it's ridiculous, and Seiryuu resents how that one life has ruined what was left of his master's common sense.
11. He finds Touda's ayakashi form tasteless -- below the dignity of any Shinshou, even a fallen sinner. Once, Seimei suggested that it might be cute if Seiryuu and the others adopted similiar ones, and Seiryuu was so horrified that he did not speak to Seimei for the rest of the month.
12. Seiryuu actually can see the shades of gray between black and white. (That Touda was not in his right mind when he attacked Seimei, that perhaps someone else could be as powerful as Seimei and bear that strength with the same grace, that it's past time to let old grudges go.) He finds them ridiculous, though, and dimisses them; worrying about this sort of thing only leads to weakness and hesitation, and he will not forgive either.
13. While he resents That Grandson, he was also the one who argued most vehemently when Touda asked to be That Grandson's protector. He'd seen how both Narichika and Masachika had cried at Touda's presence, and those bloodstained hands were not worthy of guarding anything of Seimei's line. Tenitsu and Tenkou were better-suited to children, anyway; surely one of them would be better suited to the task!
It galled him all the more to watch That Grandson stumble after Touda, chirping Reen, Reen! fearlessly, or the gentle way Touda would smile when he sat with the infant asleep in his lap. He knows someday this will end -- even the greatest of idiots can't be in the dark forever, especially about something inevitable -- and he's looking forward to when That Grandson finally realizes what sort of creature he has befriended in Kashou Touda.
14. Seimei's safety is more important to Seiryuu than his approval; as long as Seimei is alive and unhurt, the rest of the details will eventually sort themselves out.
15. What he doesn't know is he is changing, though he rails against it and clings stubbornly to his former self. Bit by small bit, time and the world around him are changing him into something new. He would be horrified by this, and would deny it even if it was pointed out to him; thus Seimei just chuckles wryly and shakes his head, and patiently waits for the right place and the right time for Shouran to realize it for himself.

O-oh, Seiryuu. You well-meaning idiot.

... I also sort of imagined he spied on Guren and bitty!Masahiro a lot, just hoping for something to tattle to Seimei with.

...oh god, he totally did.

I mean, I can imagine -- "SEIMEI SEIMEI LOOK HE MADE THAT GRANDSON OF YOURS CRY SEE WHAT A BAD INFLUENCE HE IS?"
When in actuality, it's just lunchtime and Masahiro's cranky because he's not being fed.

EXACTLY. "Ohhh, Seiryuu, are you saying that you'd like a turn at looking after Masahiro?"
...and Masahiro starts crying right away around Seiryuu. :/

... what'd probably be the worst is that he'd be crying for Reeeeeeen, Reeeeen, where did Ren gooooooooooooo?! T_____T (And yet another member of the Abe family shows a preference for snakes over dragons, Seiryuu's ego is going to be crushed.)

IT'S OKAY, SEIRYUU. JUST BECAUSE THEY LOVE GUREN BETTER... well. :/ Maybe it's not okay.

Seiryuu gets no love from the one he wants it from. :| Hang in there, Seiryuu! Maybe someday will write you happiness!

MY FAVORITE PART: He finds Touda's ayakashi form tasteless -- below the dignity of any Shinshou, even a fallen sinner. Once, Seimei suggested that it might be cute if Seiryuu and the others adopted similiar ones, and Seiryuu was so horrified that he did not speak to Seimei for the rest of the month.

I've been wanting to write stuff with young!Seimei for a while, I'm sort of easing into it starting with Seiryuu (since he's all about Seimei, anyway.) :D

So uhhh... I think they stopped taking claim requests at springkink. -_- That was a SHORT request period, yo. Two weeks for all that prep build-up? I dunno why June wouldn't still be prime-time for that... even if only the first half of June, mou.
As it is, I only got one in early enough, but none of the others I wanted. I was making such good progress too, but if I can't post them... it kinda takes the wind out of my sails, yanno? The group participation was my main motivator for getting back on the horse...

I think it's mostly because the mod's been super-busy lately, and can't keep track of things -- you may want to email her and see if she's going to reopen them? Last time, they were pretty much open indefinitely.
I hope you'll be able to get more of your requests, though, because I found springkink really fun, and it'd be awesome if you got to play, too. D:

I hope she's just busy. I don't want to bother her or anything, so I'll give her a few more days before I go poking around again.
