Hey guys!
One chai tea frappacino and bagel later, I feel so much better.
So let's do the "give me a character and I'll tell you five things from my personal canon" meme. Those're always fun! ALL CHARACTERS/FANDOMS ARE FAIR GAME, EVEN ONES I HAVE NOT WRITTEN FOR. Though it helps if I, you know, KNOW the fandom in general.
Please distract me from the fact that Supernatural season 3 starts TONIGHT and we're still not through season 1. (I mean, I love you guys, I do, but there's still a bit of frothing in my frustration. XD)
AND THAT'S THE NEWS OF THE-- week. Day.

Let's go for something completely different.
Prince Ludwig.
From:

1. It's not that he takes Will for granted; it's just that he's so utterly confident that Will's going to be there that anything and everything about him just sort of ... passes under the radar. It's less of taking for granted and more of a "this is just part of how the universe IS."
2. Colloary to that, it's not anything personal, really, against that little friend of Will's. But when you try to mess with the natural order of the universe, punishment is still going to rain down upon you.
3. Got his looks from his mother. Her attitude, too, which is somewhat to his father's dismay.
4. While he's very fond of his dead-women-in-glass-jars collection, he hates dolls. It's one thing to look at something beautiful and know it used to be alive, even if it was irritating and unpleasant and stupid; it's another to have something that's the facsimilie of life and never knew it in the first place.
Also, most dollmakers? Have atrocious taste in fashion.
5. The smell of roses makes him ill these days. (Not that he'd ever admit it.)

I'm just sad because I own season 2, but we're trying to get Jessie and Cora caught up, so I've been really good at not watching, even when they're off D&D'ing. It's been a huge test of willpower. ;)

2. Most of his time on earth (and on the Moon as well), he cultivated the image of a playboy and a careless quack; he's pretty enough that no one would've taken him seriously anyway, so he lets them get away with it, but really, he knows a lot more about things than he lets on.
3. Waka isn't IN LOVE with Amaterasu, but he loves her enough that it almost doesn't matter. There is ultimately no one who can or ever will command his loyalty more.
4. He didn't dream of Shiranui's death before it happened. That's one of many guilts he carries with him.
5. After Amaterasu and Issun left Seiankyou, he was the one who went back and called for the maidens and explain the story of Himiko's death, and spread the story of Amaterasu's return; he's not the Celestial Envoy, but he was pretty sure at the time that the more people who believed, the better.

1. The longer he's with Watanuki, the more he's able to sense spirits. He still can't see them, except through their shared eye, but he's become very good at recognizing the feel of them and pinpointing their locations.
2. Prefers Watanuki's cooking to his own mother's.
3. Connected to the above, the fact that Watanuki keeps filling his requests means that Doumeki sees no need to stop making them.
4. Used to actually be pretty talkative as a kid; when he hit high school (and especially when he started hanging out with Watanuki), it began phasing out. He figures that Watanuki talks enough for them both, so it's no big deal.
5. Met Yuuko many, many years ago, when he was just a baby and his grandfather was still alive. Doumeki doesn't remember this; Yuuko does.

1. The Doctor was most certainly married -- and the last time he saw her, her current regeneration was a small blonde. Since then, he's sort of subliminated the whole thing, but it's why he's got this tendency to gravitate towards strong-willed blonde women.
2. Has not, as of yet, licked anything on the TARDIS' control console. Mostly because he has this niggling feeling at the base of his neck that she might be irritated with him if he tried.
3. May have experienced a teetch of Stockholm Syndrome during the Year That Wasn't. Wouldn't admit it, though, under pain of death or Teletubby marathon.
4. Totally cheats for new books/movies he's interested -- Martha probably discovered the signed copy of Harry Potter book 7 within the first few months of traveling with him.
5. Talks a mile a minute and so often because the sound of his voice is better than the absolute silence he hears in his head otherwise. (Sometimes he thinks he might wish for the Master's drums instead, because at least it was a little leftover something from home.)

1. Melvin totally bought a girl for his first time, just to get it out of the way and to make sure he wouldn't be target to unfortunate virgin-victim spells. Due to this
and also because his wife's a friggin Valkyrie, he's used to taking the passive role in sex -- he lies back and thinks of Ringford.2. He kept Gwendolyn's feather as a good-luck charm. He's also superstituous enough to believe it works.
3. He was totally that deadpan and violent and emo since childhood. That's nature, not nurture, baby.
4. Oddly, his kids LOVED him. They thought Daddy was the most awesometastic funniest thing in the universe. He doesn't get it.
5. Is actually very skilled in several types of musical instruments, basic fundamental magics, and not a half-bad still-life painter. S'what you get, growing up as the adopted son of the Fairy Queen's nephew.

1. He was actually very fond of Kairi; she was a good quiet girl and didn't make a lot of fuss, and something about her presence soothed him in turn.
2. Ansem was both father-figure and hero to him; in a very twisted way, Xehanort (and Xemnas after him) did it all in an attempt to win the old man's approval and applause.
3. The other half of that, of course, is his suspicion that what he lost with his memory is deadly important; the experiments were also in an attempt to outrun the darkness he knew followed him all the way to Radient Garden, under Ansem the Wise's nose.
4. Was extremely fond of word puzzles and anagrams, which carried over into the naming schemes he used as a Nobody.
5. He never meant for any of it to go the way it actually did.

1. Rather resents that Seimei is always calling that bastard Touda "Guren" all the time, but HE only gets called "Shouran" if Seimei is disappointed or exasperated with him.
2. The worst day of his life was not when Touda almost killed Seimei, but the day Wakana died -- because Tenitsu could heal a broken body, but there wasn't anything she could do for a broken heart.
3. ... he actually doesn't remember the names of Seimei's sons or grandsons most of the time. He's never bothered to; he doesn't see the point.
4. Hates the fact that Touda is stronger than he is. Hates it, so much, because it means that if Touda turned again, Seiryuu might (only might, though) not be enough to protect Seimei.
5. Is a grumpybutt who really would like it if Seimei paid more attention to him, but is too emotionally constipated (and did I mention grumpybutt?) to ASK.

1. Raikou has this really bizarre crush on Kantarou -- in that sort of five-year-old "pull his pigtails and runa way" sort of way. He really DOES want the Oni-Eater, but he shows off and does dramatic things to get at Kantarou.
2. He's also got a good grasp of English; he keeps Edwards around "to translate," but can actually carry on a decent conversation without help.
3. He encourages the rumors that Ibaragi is his foreign mistress, but would never ever seriously considering sleeping with her. Ever.
4. Is totally on the track to becoming a white tengu, and I have to cut into the narrative to say that if it DOESN'T happen, then maybe we can hope for throwaway sketches from the authors for it.
5. Ultimately, he believes he's right, and that's what makes him dangerous.

.........[think]
Ibaragi Douji!
From:
no subject
Well, other than that. XD
1. Ibaragi had some sort of connection to the original Minamoto no Raikou; whether through seduction, coercion, or luck, she managed to escape being killed by him, but has been sort of ... stuck with the Minamoto family since.
2. Kantarou's crush on her "Shoukiku" identity amuses her to no end; she honestly had belived he had no interest in women until she heard about his gushing and excitement to see one of her performances. Too bad it ended the way it did.
3. She hates the Oni-Eater: she can't even acknowledge that he has a name now, but she hates him desperately and cleanly and unendingly. Minamoto no Raikou might have weakened Shuten Douji so that the humans thought he was dead, but it was the Oni-Eater who killed him and ate his heart.
4. No matter what she says, she's more fond of Watanabe than she'll ever let on. But she knows this, and it pisses her off like nothing else.
5. Once upon a time, she'd been a human woman. She doesn't remember it really, but something had happened and she changed.

1. The first story he ever wrote -- waaaaaaay back before he ever met a dead-eyed emotionless boy -- involved himself as the hero, a knight who saved a redhaired princess from a monster of the darkness. He doesn't remember this.
2. Has a huge soft spot for small cute things. Ducklings nonwithstanding, he's been known to bring home boxes of abandoned kittens and then adopt them out as he can. After everything that happened, there's usually at least thee or four cats hang out at his house, all of which know better than to bother the duckling who lives with them.
3. He doesn't pray for himself, but he does for his prince, hoping that this "happily ever after" will be forever.
4. Sometimes he hums or sings to himself when he's working. Ahiru can't tell anyone, but even if she could, she wouldn't: it's cute.
5. He still dances, but he's always writing whenever he can, sometimes even during intermission of a performance. If you ask him what he's working on, all he says is, "I'm keeping a journal of my dreams."

2. Occasionally wonders what happened to the rest of the troupe he travelled with -- and lives in some vague fear that he'll run into them, and have to explain why he's so different.
3. He's in love with Rinali half the time, but the other half of the time she reminds him of the mothers and sisters the women of his troupe were, and just plain loves her for it.
4. Death doesn't frighten him, but the concept of stopping -- of giving up -- terrifies him like nothing else.
5. There are days, more often than not, when he's glad for his curse; it means that there's still a piece of Mana that's alive with him.

1. He did what he did when he did because Velvet was growing up tall and beautiful and too much like their mother, and the speculative look in their grandfather's eyes when he watched her dance was too terrible to bear.
2. He didn't hate his father the way Velvet did until Odin called him a traitor and pretended not to know him.
3. He'd known about their younger sisters long before Velvet did; Griselda had been there with their father after the Disaster, and she'd looked so much like him that there was no way Ingway couldn't have known.
4. The one distraction he allowed himself -- the one sort of rumor he would deliberately seek out -- were those pertaining to the Vanir's mobilization against the Aesir; he'd been surprised at how proud he'd been when he heard of the Fariy Queen's overwhelming victory.
5. He'd heard the traitor Melvin's true name, and thus was reasonably sure he knew the Queen's name as well; in the last moments, his one regret was that he wouldn't be able to praise her for how she'd grown.
He hopes she won't resent him too much for leaving her behind again.

Thomas:
1. Being a Raith, he actually isn't as creeped out by the potential of having sex with Harry that Harry is; the part that bothers him is more that he doesn't want to ruin the relationship he has with his brother.
2. He got used to living with a dog and a cat in the two years he lived with Harry, but hasn't gotten any of his own because, well. He doesn't want to cheat on Mouse and woe be to the man who tries on Mister.
3. He's one of those guys who's annoyingly good at everything without trying.
4. His assitants sometimes jokingly call him a vampire, for the weird hours he keeps. The irony is amusing to him in a weird sort of way, so he doesn't protest.
5. He remembers his mother. Not very well, less than he'd like, but he does remember her, and her last words to him were I'm sorry.
---
Harry:
1. May not necessarily end up with Murphy by the end, but by god he's going to take care of her family for the rest of his life, if/when she has one.
2. Has recieved a number of prank calls correlating him and Harry Potter. It irritates him, because while some of the theories are sound, some of the practice is ... not.
Also? Rowling's depictions of unicorns sort of annoys him, after having survived almost being killed by one.
3. On the other hand, Gandalf the White is one of his heroes.
4. He suspects Lovecraft might have been pushed to create the Cthulu mythos in the same way Stoker was encouraged to write Dracula, but it's a hunch he's never been able to verify.
5. He's still in love with Susan, despite whatever feelings he may or may not have for Murphy; he'll always be a little in love with her for the rest of his life, in a bittersweet sort of way.

1. Totally came before Clow. She was an old, old rumor by the time he finally sought her out; she taught him a lot of what he knew. He became more famous, but she was first.
2. Is, in fact, grooming Watanuki to be a successor -- or, at least, someone who'll take over a similiar shop in the future. She's not yet sure if she's ready to retire or not.
3. Is a fully-ordained priest (and priestess and sometimes both) in approximately two hundred and fifty-six religions, and considered a goddess in at least twelve. Of course, not all of these are from the same worlds, but she's got the credentials, and that's what counts.
4. She and Clow were never lovers, though they came close several times; they respected each other, and ultimately that was the more precious relationship.
5. Yuuko has a wish of her own, one that she's been working a long time in order to pay. What it is, though, she'll never tell.

1. Queer as a three-dollar bill. Despite his appreciation and fondness for cute and pretty girls, he's not actually interested in them like that.
2. Collary to one, Kurogane's actually not his regular type. The draw he feels to Kurogane (whether one interprets it as sexual or not) was totally NOT something he expected, which both worries and intrigues him, like a scab he can't stop picking at.
(The fact that Kurogane never really gave up on HIM, even after months of cold silence and his proper name, actually worries Fay more than anything else.)
3. On some level, he was so desperate to keep clone!Syaoran's heart because to him, it symbolized that you could take something that didn't belong to you and make it so that it absolutely did.
4. Fay actually does have a decent singing voice, but it's not something very well-suited for solos; he'd be very good in duets. But he's never tried either way.
5. He'd never outright admit it, but he really DOES sort of think of Sakura and Syaoran (the cloned Syaoran, though the real one is becoming more and more dear to him) as his children. He refrains from actually mothering them in an attempt to keep some distance, but he adores both those kids painfully, and any loss to himself is worth it if it means they can keep something precious instead.

1. The one thing he absolutely cannot and will not do is kill the Doctor permanently -- he'll threaten and cajole and maybe use up a regeneration or two (or three-four-five-six), but he always (subconsciously) leaves some sort of loophole or escape clause the Doctor can find and get away with.
2. Totally knows the Doctor's real name, and is (was) one of the few who didn't make the conscious effort to forget it when the Doctor went maverick.
3. He almost let himself think it might not be too bad to travel around as the Doctor's
companionprisoner. Getting shot saved him that embarrassment, so while he could, he was grateful for that.4. After his revival, he questioned everyone he could (though carefully and subtly) about the Doctor's whereabouts. Part of the terror that drove him to flee across the universe and turn himself human stemmed from the thought that the Doctor had failed, and they were screwed.
5. Can't forgive the Doctor for forgiving him. A good quarter of the atrocities he committed in the Year That Wasn't stemmed from trying to finally convince the idiot that he was not forgivable and maybe stop him from looking so stupidly hopeful when those dim old eyes could focus.

1. No matter how flaky he actually seems or acts, Kantarou DOES always get his work done. Not always by the first deadline, but by the second; he's got enough of a cult following that his publishers let him get away with it.
2. He's terrified of taking the first step beyond just friendship with Haruka because of the name issue; nine universes out of ten, Haruka will have to initiate, even if Kantarou confesses first, because he'll use the name for petty silly things, but not for anything that serious.
3. Is horribly a late-night person, which is why he's usually still asleep by the time Youko actually comes stomping into his room to wake him up. (She's a morning person, after all.)
4. He actually can cook very simply things -- it's how he survived after moving out of his father's home and before he met Youko -- but instead cultivates the image of not being able to, because he prefers eating out if Youko can't cook for whatever reason.
5. He's determined that he will remove Haruka's name -- on his dying breath, so that Haruka's name is the last he'll ever speak.

Axel~? (this was hard, I almost said a HGJ person)
From:

But Axel:
1. When he had a heart, he was a traveling performer from Aurora's world. (I used this in the Alexverse, but that was me expressing my personal canon.)
2. Has a problem with authority figures that started from when he had a heart. One of his favorite passtimes is heckling people who are theoretically "superior" to him, but who can't actually raise a hand against him for various reasons.
3. Roxas actually reminds him of someone -- he can't remember who, or what this person was to him (a close friend who was never a lover, but came close), hence the initial attraction where Axel started following him everywhere.
4. He forgave Sora for taking Roxas' heart, at the very end.
5. If anyone could claw their way back from wherever dead Nobodies go, it'll be Axel.
Hence half the fic I wrote, whut. XD(no subject)
