Get back the bearable characterization??

Insomnia, boys and girls, is a bad thing.

On the other hand, going back to older fandoms -- why, O why, when I do go looking for Ban/Ginji fic, I can only find schmoopy sappy stuff with copious fangirl Japanese and big dewy eyes? What happened to the sheer stupid DORKLOVE and the punting of TareGin into the stratophere and the fact that even though half the time they act really really gay, they also act like stupid teenaged guys?

... okay, okay, so it's not an uncommon complaint in any fandom with a large fanpopulation of teh ghei, but seriously. D: WHERE IS THE DORKLOVE, I ASK. THE DORKLOVE.

(Actually, why do MOST of the anime fandoms I read seem to skip over the dorklove for the emo wangst? Is it really that much more compelling? I'm serious, here -- what's wrong with dorklove? D: Should I ever end up dating, I would totally rather have dorklove than emo wangst, because there's nothing appealing about emo wangst to me. Even the really funny purple poetry is not-so-good.

I'm so confused. D:)
