As always, I have the best of intentions, but kind of let them ... putter out? This journal is going through one of its inactive states, and when I remember that I feel bad, because I HAVE THIS AWESOME PERMANENT ACCOUNT AND MY ICONS AREN'T ALL FIXED YET AND. wah.

And god yes, I am still working on those lovely, lovely fic prompts people gave me. I SWEAR I AM. I have the gdoc open right now and am picking at it in between work.

But I miss conversation, too. It's strange, I talk to people everyday, and while sometimes I just want to hermit in my room, I still enjoy the talking. I wish I had something extraordinarily meta and cool to talk about, but I ... don't, really. I'm functioning on less sleep than usual this week (as my rl folks will tell you, is pretty signifigant) simply because even if I go to bed at a decent hour (i.e., BEFORE one) I end up just lazing in bed and zenning, but not really sleeping.

Ask me something. Talk to me about something. We can fangirl, we can meta, we can do something. I am so incredibly behind and forgetful, but I miss people. :(

Uhhh. It is still tactics! And then GetBackers, for finished series -- it will forever and always hold a huge soft spot in my heart for all its ridiculousness and stupidity and impossibilities, it was FUN and I am still searching for the dumb shounen series to try and fill the gap. :(b

Why is the seme NEVER flustered during sex in BL manga? I don't get it. The uke cries and whines and sweats and moans, but the seme's speech bubbles will always be cool, calm, collected. T_T I feel this is extremely unfair.

(OH, but if you haven't, you should read "Kou'un no Rihatsushi", because all the H scenes are hilarious. EXTREMELY HILARIOUS. Also it's a cute comic and I translated it. :) )

What are some pairings you're embarrassed to say you like? Or hell, what are your favorite pairings? I've never spoken to you about this before, so I'm always curious about this because you can never really guess what pairings someone's into.

WELL. In my favorite series (tactics) I have this tremendous, vaguely-inexplicable (I blame Japanese fanart) guilty love of the Raikou/Kantarou pairing. I seriously underwent a paradigm shift in something under two days because of some really nice J-art and an appropriately creepy accompanying fic snippet. And I cried a lot at harukami, who laughed at me, but took the blame for the fic I wrote after I finished spazzing. And like the floodgates released, ever since, I've grown fonder of vaguely badtouch pairings -- though I like them exponentially better if the badtouch-ee is sniping back and not just nobly suffering, or taking it like a martyr; I like it when they fight back. 8( Or something. Which is terrible because I feel like I should not approve of badtouch; I love happy and stupid and fun and CHEERFUL, why am I going for badtouch.

But if we talk about actual OTPs that I cheerfully love, it'd be things like -- Ban/Ginji and Haruka/Kantarou, and Yuri/Alice and Sora/Riku/Kairi (which counts even if it's a threesome okay). I like them best when they're happy and at least moderately healthy, cough.

MYTHOLOGY. FOLKLORE. If there is some kind of mythos in it -- see also: tactics, Amatsuki, even GetBackers and Kingdom Hearts, to an extent -- I will almost certainly fall for it and want to make it miiiiiiiine. 8( I am absolutely fascinated with different interpretations of these enduring motifs -- if there is an involved backstory that forms the supports for current-day canon, I'm sunk. :(b

Supernatural elements are always a huge bonus, too. \o/

East-Asian mythology, honestly! Korean, Japanese, Chinese, I've loved those stories ever since I was little; one of the first picture-book series I ever had was this collection of Korean folk stories, provided by my grandmother. Ever since, I've had a greatest fondness for that, though I DO like all of them. :Db What about you?

Oh man, uh. Where to start?

OH I KNOW -- how about how I used to really not like Goku/Sanzo at all, despite Goku being my favorite character and Sanzo obviously being so important to him? --This was years ago, literally; I was ... in early high school when I first started reading Saiyuuki, and I ... really didn't like Sanzo. (I think I only had up to v5 of the original series.) He was unkind and cold and while it worked well enough when Minekura wrote him, my forays into fandom made me kind of go :\ at the "Sanzo is a secret woob!" things I found.

Because see, I don't believe that -- Sanzo is an angry man, a driven man, a dangerous man, and a hurt lonely man, and there's nothing "soft" about him. The nicest he really gets is ... tolerating you. Koumyou was the last person he really opened up to, and while in later years we get more of how much he really lovesneeds Goku, at the time I was first reading it? I didn't get much of that.

But I liked in that vague sort of "well, my favorite character obviously wants that, I suppose I don't mind it, as long as I don't seek it out. :\"

FAST FORWARD SOME YEARS? A-and now -- though I hesitate to say it's because I'm more mature or whatever -- my opinion has changed, because my reading has altered slightly. It helps that we got more of Sanzo's backstory during the Burial arc, and how he dealt with Goku's first Seitan Taisei transformation. It helps that the recent storyline (i.e., Hazel's appearence on) has done wonderful and mad things with Sanzo, with the whole Sanzo priesthood in general, and Goku growing up.

NOW I SHIP IT. But semi-platonically, because I don't know if Sanzo will ever be okay for sex, and Goku is obviously just happy being near his sun. :(b

I was actually thinking about you earlier...I can't remember why, but I was the other day. My brain, she is empty. I was just missing you, I guess. Work and family've been killing me, so I'm basically either asleep or working these days. Kind of depressing, really. Am currently at one of the boy's apartments, surfing while they all play and spectate Metal Gear Solid, making manly sounds. XD We're gonna go to the Dark Knight midnight premier, which is an awful idea because we all work at 8 am tomorrow. I'm not getting home till after 3, I know it. But I was pleaded with because I was depressed. Somehow this worked.

Honestly, that's a bit like I am -- only a lot of my freetime is usually on IRC these days. It is an amazingly good time-eater, IRC + RP, I gotta tell you. AND THEN WORK because man, work can sap my energy to the point where I really just sort of feel like bumming around and not ... doing what I should be. Sigh. My friends'n I are going to see Hellboy II tomorrow, which I am vastly looking forward to. o/

I've been good! CONSTANTLY TIRED because sleep is sort of a hobby than anything I do for health these days, but good! \o/ M-my social life has also gotten bizarrely active, in that I am out and about and doing things and my weekends have somehow been devoured by activity rather than lethargy on the computer. I don't even know, sometimes, how it happened. :|b

IN TRAGEDY. No, that's sort of a lie -- both Kinoshita and Higashiyama have a tendency towards happy-ish endings, or at least on a light note; I suspect tactics will do that, too, after going through some near-misses, especially as we get to Kantarou's past. (Also, of all the predictions from the robot dog, the only one that hasn't come true yet is Haruka covered in blood and grinning maniacally, so I think that'll be the "lowest" point of the series, and then it'll get better. I highly doubt that it would stay dark.)
