It would be my luck that the ONE VIRUS EVER my computer picks up, in 12+ years of being online, would be one that is super-difficult to remove.

Thank you, Virtumonde, for ruining my day, AND IT'S NOT EVEN DONE YET. Yes, I'm aware of the time. I-I'm going to call in sick tomorrow if we're not closed due to snow.

Shoot, I forget which one fixed it for me but it was either Spybot Search&Destroy or Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware. Both are free/shareware!!

I've been running Spybot all night, and it -- keeps popping up instances of the virus, even after I remove them. :\ I might try the Anti-Malware, if a scan tomorrow still doesn't work. ;o;

VUNDOFIX DIDN'T PICK UP ANYTHING WHEN I RAN IT, even when Spybot did. I have honestly no idea what to make of that. :x

I, I THINK IT DID?! I-I just ran another scan after waking up and it's still clean. ;___________________; The real test will be when I reboot, to see if the tendency of creating a randomly-named .dll file on restart continues, but--!!

Sob it was almost four a.m. before I got to bed. ;o;

Th-though I didn't get to bed till four a.m. and ... I woke up just long enough to call the snow number and confirm everything was closed, SO I WENT BACK TO SLEEP UNTIL ABOUT ... NOW-ISH.

Same thing happened to me trying to download photoshop. x_x Even though we scanned it before installing, it was a trojan full of SEVERAL DIFFERENT VIRUSES and it took Dave like several different virus scanners and some fiddling with the registry and over 12 hours to get it clean again.

Y-yeah, the funny thing is that I was actually thinking of getting a new computer, but holding off due to prices when I'm paying a lot of money in other directions, currently. >_> I got a copy of Photoshop from a friend, so I knew it was clean -- BUT, if I can find an old copy of CS3 for cheap(er), I might just bite the bullet and get it.

Or I might take advantage of roommate's student discount before she loses it, I dunno. >_>b

Yeah, like I said above -- I HAVE been considering getting a new computer. And the idea of a Mac is a bit tempting, but it's also one of those "I have used IBM computers my entire life and we get an employee discount" so ... I am probably NOT gonna get a Mac.

Thankfully, it seems like I got rid of the problem. I-I hope this is not a false dream. ;o;
