Posting this now, as tonight I have to go to bed early due to working tomorrow. :'( And work is slow right now, so.
It has been a very interesting year for me, writing-wise! (Which, as it is still my primary love and the hobby I consider first, is probably the most interesting thing about me. :|a) I started out super-unproductive and in a slump, which lingered longer than I would have liked: I definitely kicked off with output once I started my weekly goal thing. Even if there were (and still are) weeks where I get 90% of the wordcount in a single afternoon (usually Sunday, haha), it has helped immensely in just getting stuff written! EVEN IF IT IS CRAP AND I WOULD NOT POST IT, they're words! They come together (semi) coherently! Go me!
Even more exciting--while this is not a complete list (I am sure I'm missing things)--when I count by plain numbers, I've written more original fiction than any other type of thing this year. \o/ And I've somehow conquered my comment-count anxiety (I am always incredibly pleased when I get comments, they make me really happy! but I can also NOT get them and it doesn't crush me! EVEN NOW!), two things that I think make my writing progress/life in 2009 worth everything. I still have a passel of issues re: roleplay, of the once-burned now-shy variety among other things, but those are ultimately no one's fault but mine, and if I can kick my fic-comment anxiety, surely I can beat this too! I WILL BELIEVE IN ME!
Anyway! STUFF THAT I WROTE THIS YEAR! (Or as closely as I can manage, because I probably missed a few things. Minus my Yuletide stuff as well as giftfic, which is still remaining anonymous until the new year; I'll update this list then. ... If I remember.) Should anyone be interested and want to comment on anything old, I will be glad, but I just hope that if you read these, they are entertaining! ♥

And now, a writing survey meme thingit stolen from
flamebyrd!
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?:
I pretty much followed the pattern I predicted--as mentioned above, the beginning of this year was a huge dry spell for me (carried over from last year, I suspect), with productivity picking up significantly after I set up that weekly writing challenge for myself.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?:
Hetalia. :|a I don't think I even really knew what Hetalia was back in January, and I still have occasional fits over I DON'T KNOW HISTORY, WHAT AM I DOING--probably why mostly I just write crossovers and things. *g*
What's your favourite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?:
where morning has gone, because I wrote the entire thing in the space of like--three hours? Which is really impressive for me, and it managed to fit in a lot of things I enjoyed in their own fashion.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?:
I suppose the Hetalia thing again? I, I don't know, I'm not sure I would consider that a "risk" or that I really DID anything risky--which sounds bad! But I also tend to be less uncomfortable with writing things as much as apathetic when they don't interest me. As much as I will wail and complain to certain people while in the process of writing stuff, in the end, I don't think that's so much a reflection of my comfort zones being breached and me being lazy and writer's-block'd. I think I hit my shame limit for what I write a while ago--there's stuff I am dissatisfied with, certainly, but the only things I'm uncomfortable with writing are things that I have 0% experience with in any shape or form, or my knowledge is so common and prevasive that I don't think I'll bring anything new to a discussion. (Or even something old dressed up in altered clothes.)
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?:
Next year, I would like to keep writing original stuff--
imaginarybeasts has been amazingly good for that, and I'd like to expand and/or find other things, if I can. (Maybe I'll finally manage something for Shousetsu Bang*Bang? MAYBE?!) FINALLY FINISH MY GHOST STORY NANO, AHHHHH! Let people talk me into writing fic I wouldn't otherwise, as it more often than not ends up really well. Keep having fun!
Actually, with all my heart, I would love to run a text adventure game (like the post I did in CFUD the other day) along the lines of You Awaken In Razor Hill or RubyQuest, original character and settings and reader input. SO MUCH. I just quail at the idea that no one else would play along, and something like this is so much more fun when you have multiple people giving really bizarre suggestions for your hapless protagonist. :( SINCE PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY SKIMMING THIS INSTEAD OF READING, I WILL SAY BAWWWWWWWWWW and keep the thought for later. S-someday!
My best story of this year:
Oh man, I don't know. My bias still says where morning has gone, though I am pretty proud of pr(a/e), too, for being a) a pairing I don't ship, b) being porn and yet coming together coherently and (I think, anyway) ICly.
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
where morning has gone. ISN'T THIS A GIVEN, SINCE IT WAS MY FAVORITE? It was also posted under a filter lock initially, but this is the story that I would want people to read and maybe comment on--not so much to validate my ego as a writer, but because I genuinely loved writing this story and want to share it with other people, now that I've removed the filter. :(b
Most fun story to write:
Embarrassingly, probably Imitation Black. STUPID SINGING ROBOTS!
Story with the single sexiest moment:
Imitation Black, I guess ... ? I wrote two porny things this year (:B), but my view on them is sort of doubtful.
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
Do I have anything like that ... ? QUICK, SOMEONE GIVE ME A PROMPT.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
I don't think I have one. :|a
Hardest story to write:
THINGS WITH SEX IN THEM. I feel like I do better with gen, by far.
Biggest Disappointment:
Imitation Black -- even within a week of posting it, I want to go back and completely rewrite that ending. I think I rushed it because I got too eager to post, at the end. Or Ile Carnevale, because I wanted to do so much more and then lost track of time before the deadline. The beauty of hindsight! I'd like to revisit both next year, and see if I can do better.
Biggest Surprise:
SINGING ROBOT FANDOM. I guess this dovetails with the "things I never expected to write," but I feel more comfortable with robots than history. MAYBE I WILL WRITE A FICTIONALIZATION OF ENBIZAKA.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
EPIC SINGING ROBOTS, which is a project with
actualize and maybe others someday!! is me going back to my childhood reading roots as a bright-eyed enthusiastic high fantasy fan. It is so much fun, guys, other people need to come play with us. :( I will make an invitation/pimping post--someday. Maybe that'll be my goal for January!
