I miss using my journal, guys. :( Which is sad, because I've had longer dry spells than this, but I really want to be posting/writing/etc, I just have a semi-broken keyboard on my home machine plus AUGH PACKING AND CLEANING. Anyone who's talked to me in the past ... month ... has probably gotten an earful and a half of my whining to some degree, whoops. :B

- I doooooooo not, do not, do not understand the new movie fandom's utter infatuation with pairing Blackwood with Watson--having Blackwood be Watson's former SEKRIT LUVVER or torturing him, or raping him, or etc. And not even as a way to get to Holmes, but just because Blackwood somehow likes Watson better?! To me, it was pretty damn obvious that he was obsessed with Holmes; yeah, he made that comment to Watson about "enjoying [his] work," but nearly every single damn thing he does in the movie is a ploy to make Holmes work for him/ally with him; it's a sociopath's giant love letter to a misanthropic detective.
- Ditto the above for people having Watson connected to Moriarity. I mean. What?! WHY.
- For that matter, I don't get why people are so obsessed with pulling Holmes and Watson to the modern-day, when the Victorian Era had a pretty fantastic range of perversions, dubious legalities, and bad habits that could be awesomely utilized. (Granted, this is more of a kink-meme specific thing, not fandom in general.)
- Why don't more people have love for The Great Mouse Detective? As spinoffs/pastiches go, it is my favorite. :(
- Despite having read the books and stories, aesthetically I prefer RDJ to the classic style. :x

So okay opinions!
- I don't actually think the Organization is full of bleeding-heart (har har) woobies who're misunderstood and misrepresented by the EVOL "GOOD GUYS"!!11! --Like, I do think they're misunderstood and represented as Nobodies, but not as an organization; the original group was involved in some pretty shady stuff which transformed them in the first place, and they continue being involved in shady stuff after they've lost their hearts! It's true that they're not unfeeling cold monsters, but they are not good people for the most part, and Sora is not a horrible person for taking them out like he's been told. :[
- I LIKE SORA BETTER THAN ROXAS. IDK IF THIS IS UNPOPULAR OR NOT!
- I ALSO LIKE KAIRI. What I hate is how these were unpopular opinions back when I was more involved in fandom. :(
- I sometimes actually liked the gummi ship parts--not so much the customization, but the arcade-style shootings.
- Ultimately my ship goes Sora/Kairi with Riku pining quietly after them both. I think it's love for Sora and Kairi, and I think Riku for both of them hovers in that place that's not really ... friends-with-benefits and not really in-love lovers. I think they both love him incredibly much, but if the three had to be split into two, I would pick Sora/Kairi over Riku/Sora or Riku/Kairi.
- I liked the Disney parts, more than the Final Fantasy parts :[

And just... okay, the idea of anyone not liking Sora does not register in my brain. I like Roxas! But I also like where he ended up, and I like the idea that he is Sora's... not-so-light side who would take over during difficult situations and handle them in ways Sora would never even consider.
Hahaha god I have such a hard time splitting up the three of them. I do love Sora/Kairi (HOW CAN YOU NOT they are so cute), but really I just want them all to be a big dumb family forevers!!

Once upon a time, I found a community that was devoted to thinking Sora was the WORST CHARACTER EVER and GOD DON'T YOU WISH THAT AFTER THE PROLOGUE OF KHII YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO GO BACK TO PLAYING HIM? which made me go :?? why did you even get KHII if you hated Sora that much.

- I do not ship Oki and Samickle. I have friends who do! I've seen it on J-sites! But I'm more like :|a? because I see them more as bros than lovers, and less of the bros-who-sleep-together and more like bros in that Oki is the irritating little brother who pissed big brother Samickle off so now they're not SPEAKING TO EACH OTHER, Kai, tell that idiot that I'M NOT SPEAKING TO HIM, that sort of thing.
- This is more of an RP thing, but I still feel weird when I see people playing her and giving her a speaking voice, whether as a wolf or as a human. We know she can appear human, because it's referred to--but we have no idea how she talks! ONE ASSUMES SHE CAN, but when even her Celestial Envoy has to make up the dialogue for her, I'm a little dubious how much we're really getting of her in it. Fic is different; I can roll with it in fic because fic (to me) has a bigger playground, so to speak. But I am always weirded out by talking Ammies in RPs. :x
- Man I really really really ship wolf/fruitcake prophet. Even while she is wolf-shaped and he is man-shaped. :(
- I find J-fandom's tendencies to pair up the brush-gods amongst themselves charming, but ultimately sort of weird, because not only are they technically all siblings as Amaterasu's children, they're all ... technically part of her.
- Also, while I find the tiny waiflike humanform!Ammy designs cute, I also don't think they're right. In my head, Ammy's human form is ... pretty bust and hip-tacular; she's both a mother and a warrior and maybe she can be a tiny waif too, when she feels like it, but I don't think it's really her default. :|a (It was what I asked when I asked Namine to draw her so I could icon it.)
- I don't think Rao was killed until she'd received the fox flute pipe thingies (AHH I FORGET WHAT THEY'RE CALLED) from Amaterasu. I know the caption in the game mentions the corpse you find looks like it's been dead "for a long time," but the brief clip we see of Rao fleeing the Ninetails matches the same time of day/etc when she took the item from Amaterasu and left.
- Actually, I also ship Himiko and Amaterasu. Bawwww she was there helping in the final boss fight. 8(

- And I don't ship the Medicine Seller and Kayo. :[ I think she had a crush on him that became something like hero-worship, especially after the Bakeneko arc, but I don't think he reciprocated in the slightest (see above). And as much as I like her, I don't think she's some sort of rare and pure soul either--the second Bakeneko arc proved that she was just as prone to human mistakes and corruption as the rest of the Sakaki household.
- I don't actually want more canon, because I think what we did get was beautifully-animated, well-written and amazingly-executed, and I would hate to see production standards go down just to produce more. I like not knowing exactly what the Medicine Seller is; I don't want his backstory, if he even has one. (Does this count as two?)
- There are not enough Mononoke/Okami crossovers out there. :T
- I am vaguely dissatisfied with all fic for this fandom, even (especially) the stuff I write, because to me it is such a visual series, that unless you're getting your story animated, it doesn't really feel much like something for Mononoke(/Ayakashi) without some sort of visually-artistic component.
- Actually, related to the first point, sort of, I think the Medicine Seller was the masked mononoke during the Nopperabou arc; I don't know what fandom as a whole thinks of it, but I'm pretty sure it's him (they got Midorikawa to voice the mononoke, and I genuinely honestly mistook Sakurai for Midorikawa wayyy back in the day), and if he DID ever have sex, it would've been with Ochou-san.
... mostly it's the first point, I think, where I totally clash with fandom, both western and japanese. :|a

- I don't really find Kanda interesting. :( THERE, I HAVE SAID IT--he's very much the traditional brooding long-haired prettyboy with the dark angsty past, and even in this current arc, where we're finding more about it (though I liked how the person he was seeking to find wasn't like, a parent or sibling or female lover or anything), I'm ... not terribly interested! haha. \o_O/
- I DON'T LIKE THE OFFICIAL SPELLINGS. I have to consciously think of how they're supposed to be spelled (Leenalee, Lavi, Jeryy), versus how they are in my head (Rinali, Ravi, Jerry), and a few I refuse to go with the official. (I don't even remember what they did to Crowley's name, but it's so obviously meant to be Alistair Crowley that I can't. No, sob.)
- I really don't want to see Allen paired up with anyone, nor do I think he really has romantic chemistry with anyone. Initially, I had shipped him with Leenalee, but recently I've been more like :|a hmmm no. Kanda/Allen and Lavi/Allen just make me go /)_- WHY. Ftr, my favorite pairing is Eliade/Crowley.
- Also I LIKE LEENALEE, WHY IS THIS UNPOPULAR :(
- Actually, I like all of the art style changes Hoshino has gone through over the course of DGM's life; it's one of the few series where I liked even the first volume's art.
- Sort of related to what I said to Danni re: Kingdom Hearts and Organization XIII, I don't really buy people who try to make the Noah sympathetic or actually "good"--like, in their own minds, they ARE the good guys! But they're doing terrible things to accomplish it and not feeling very guilty for the collateral damage they cause along the way, and that's what makes them interesting! "Redeeming" them through the power of LOOOOOOVE (unless we're talking about, like, Allen's unconditional love for everyone and everything) just irritates me. \o/
- Klaud Nine is the hottest general. :[
- I think Hoshino is either planning things better than people are giving her credit for, or she's doing the same thing that SPN does, where she goes back and rereads her own material to find things she can turn into Chekov's gun; there are things that fit together really well in the context of the series, and while she's not perfect at it, I feel she's doing better than most of the people going :E at her are allowing.

You know I agree with you on the Noah too, and it's like, IT'S WEIRD because of . . . our OTP :'D But I think there is a big difference between Devit controlling himself for the good of his social relationships and a Noah actually BEING FIXED!!! by a relationship, and the latter is what I see in fic a lot, AND IT'S RIDICULOUS AND IMPOSSIBLE. And sob, like--YES, OUR OTP! But I still don't really ship Hakuren in his own canon (and other than like one other person, I'm certain we're the only ones who have this OTP), and I don't think Devit (or any of the Noah) are good people! It's been two years of RPing and Devit's only vaguely beginning to actually ... make any progress towards being a "good" person, and he's only really doing it for selfish reasons, ultimately. It's not like he's turned over a new leaf and done so because of love; it's his other relationships that are affecting him too! And in the DGM world, where those who would recognize him as a Noah would be terrified/disgusted/etc of him, IT'S NOT VERY LIKELY. :'D

- Well, I already mentioned it in Devit's post, but I DO think Hakuren is gay, quietly and canonically, but I don't think it's a huge deal to him, or to his characterization! It's less about him preferring men (or just being uninterested in women for the time) or anything, though--that's like, 1/100000 of his character! He's arrogant and vain and willing to put his life down for a guy he doesn't even like, he can admit a mistake despite that pride and is a loyal friend! So it frustrates me when people in fandom and RPers are like KYAA KYAA HE DOESN'T LIKE GIRLS, HE SAID SO HIMSELF KYAA and fixate on that. Sob! /)_(\ Relatedly, I think his Thing for Frau is more of kyaa kyaa heroworship than an actual outright sexual crush, and I think he'd be appalled at the suggestion he have sex with Frau, because HOW COULD ANYONE ASK THAT OF BISHOP FRAU, WHO IS AMAZING AND COOL AND MANLY. :[ Not everyone wants to sleep with their idols!
- FOR THAT MATTER, Iiiii really don't ship anything or anyone in 07-Ghost! I am confident this is an unpopular opinion because I don't think I've ever been in a fandom where pairings weren't A Big Deal, even if only some of the time. I have things I like seeing and things I'll write, but I don't have an OTP or anything that would make me sad to break up, nor do I see any sort of romantic tension between ... anyone and anyone. Except maybe Verloren and Eve, but I'm not sure how much they count.
- I like Ouka. :( I am so sad that liking female characters is consistently an unpopular opinion across at least three different opinion sets I've done. And while I don't ship, I like Ouka/Teito better than Mikage/Teito.
- I am also certain that Shuri will become a significant point later in the future, and is not just a comic-relief/annoyance character--I think maybe he started out that way, but I think we're seeing a very drawn-out character arc related to whatever machinations his father is attempting. IN MY HEART I am hoping that Wakaba is trying to pull a coup the same way that the Fujiwara family rose to power during the Heian era, marrying into the imperial family and being the close advisers and essentially holding the true power.
- I still disagree with J-wiki's assertion that Shuri and Hakuren are half-brothers, lolwut.
- IDK I THINK BY NOT SHIPPING ANYTHING I AM PRETTY MUCH IN THE 99.99 PERCENTILE FOR UNPOPULAR OPINIONS.

- I'm always a little :? at the proliferation of actual Sebastian-and-Ciel-having-sex in fandom, the one time I peeked in. While I don't doubt Sebastian would do it if he had the chance, and that the moral qualms don't bother him, I don't really see Ciel as being able to go through with it--I think maybe he would put up a stoic front if he thought it'd get him information he needed/wanted, but I don't think it's possible for him yet (if ever) to actually ... have sex with anyone. TOO DAMAGED. :V
- I want Soma to meet a nice English girl and bring her back to his country, all \o/!!!!!!!!!!!! because while he and Agni are absolutely adorably codependent, I don't ship them. :|a
- Needs moar Holmes crossover. :V THIS IS NOT NECESSARILY UNPOPULAR, but merely my own desires. :|a
- Grelle = transgender. Again, I don't know if this is unpopular or not, but like what came up in the car the other day, the fact that there are people who think Grelle identifies male sort of make me go \o_O/? I think the closest she ever did/would is with Madame Red, and their relationship was just pretty effed up all around.
- Sort of related to the first point, I waffle back and forth on this, but more often than not, I come down on Sebastian not caring for Ciel like you would a friend or master, but more like an entertaining and cute pet. Your roommate's pet, that you can pet and cuddle and enjoy but you're not ultimately responsible for, so if they eventually run off the balcony and die, well, you've gotten what you wanted already. :')
- I don't think Ciel will live past the end of the series. As much as I'd like for him to have his revenge and have Lizzie take care of him and maybe let him become a semi-normal person, I don't think it's likely.
- Tanaka is a ninja. I will never not believe this until canon forces me to.
- I am still sad that Madame Red died. She was my favorite. :(
- Idk if fandom does it, but if I were to be reading and catch them using Japanese words or honorifics in fic I would punch them in the face. In my heart, I'd be doing that.

Also I totally agree with you on Sebastian's treatment of Ciel. While there are times when he does genuinely nice things for Ciel, I think it's more on a whim. A sort of "oh, I felt like that at the moment, so I did it." type thing. (And I also wonder if he isn't playing with Ciel a little, just to see what reaction he gets)

- I actually don't really ship Doumeki/Watanuki super much, or even Doumeki/Watanuki/Himawari--I'm pretty much either Watanuki being Clow through timeloops and the magic of the shop (and I ship Clow with Yuuko :|a), or Watanuki/Himawari.
- Semi-relatedly, I sort of wonder if Himawari is more tied into the shop and everything than canon has really delved into, just yet.
- I was one of the few people (it seemed?) who wasn't confused/upset/etc with the whole CLONES!!11 arc for Tsubasa; this might be because I wasn't reading as the chapters came out, but rather when the volumes did, so I was reading chunks at a time, not chapters.
- The Sakura hate on I see from a few quarters makes me very, very sad. :(
- I believe that Fay is completely capable of taking Kurogane down in a physical fight. He would cheat outrageously, but he'd do it. (I don't know actually how unpopular this is, but given how KuroFay fans on the whole tend to fall into the stereotype of big gruff seme/willowy weak fragile uke, I would hazard that it is.)
- I don't think that, at his core, Fay is a broken and unhappy person! I think his fake personality is more of a mirror of what he could and would've been like, if his family life hadn't been so terrible. (I even have canon backup for why I feel this way.) HIS LIFE SUCKED, but he's a survivor; I think that he's a lot stronger than a lot of fandom seems to give him credit for.
- Actually I find the whole VAMPIRES!!11! subarc kind of boring, but I've never been a Seishirou/Subaru OR a Kamui/Subaru fan, which probably puts me in Unpopular Territory for CLAMP fandom in general. XD

I really like Shun as a character, but I feel like there's a lot more we could/should have been told to really appreciate all the things that were wrong with him--it's been a while since I've watched the series, but I do remember that one of the few things I really had problems with was that the ending, at least re: Shun and his motives, felt kind of rushed. :[

- I don't actually. Ship Gwen and Morgana, which makes me feel terribly guilty because yay girls and girls! but I don't see their chemistry as romantic; instead, they sort of ping my master-and-servant thing the same way Sam and Frodo do, which is to say that I think they are quite possibly platonically married, but I don't see romance or sex as a factor to their relationship.
- While we have seen Merlin to be clumsy and hapless, I think that fandom exaggerates it a lot more than really happens in the show. This is less unpopular, I think, and more that it's like me ------------------> fandom in the degree that they see this thing happening.
- Fandom also tends to make Merlin more inclined to be gay than Arthur, and while I think Merlin's pretty puppy-in-love with his prince, I don't think he's ... actually gay? Just because he's derpy around girls doesn't mean to me that he's not INTO them, it's just that he's a small-village boy in a big city. (I know there's that whole meta parallel with magic and homosexuality, but I just don't see Merlin himself that way. \o_O/)
I am probably missing a lot since I am so behind on both series, but those are the salient points. :|a

Oh, I'm not alone! ♥ I seriously thought I was the only one who didn't think they particularly have a romantic vibe. I loooove their friendship and the platonic-life-partner kind of vibe, but sex, yeah, I thought I was alone in fandom in not thinking that was a factor.
Also, ditto on Merlin not being as clumsy as people portray him in fandom. He is - just not that much. But that's typical of fandom in everything, IMHO - they/we tend to exaggerate traits.
As for Merlin, I think the meta-parallel is there, but I think of it in a "this is something that can be extrapolated from the show so that we think about it" kind of way, not as a "Merlin is gay" kind of way, if that makes sense. I could take or leave the sexual side of his relationship with Arthur - it's faintly possible in my mind that it could turn into that sort of thing at some point, and I have occasionally been known to play it that way, but I think the important part of their relationship is that Arthur is the... quintessential everything, and Merlin's destiny, and Merlin is in love with that. It's like it's this mythic thing that could involve sex, but goes so far beyond it that sex would be purely incidental if it did happen. If that makes any sense.
And Merlin's sexuality, I think Merlin is A Teenager. I would generally make an argument for him being faintly bi, but only because he crushes so hardcore on everyone that he likes - in a sort of non-sexual way. He obviously crushed stupidly on Gwen, so he's clearly not gay, per se, but he was equally agog over Lancelot, and always has his complex love for Arthur, but whether or not that's sexual is a whole other can of worms. Maybe I'm being naive or overly innocent or something, but I don't particularly see his love for any of them being overly sexual. He just loves them, and gets stupid over them, and wants to be near them and help them and all of that. And I think I would honestly be a bit upset if the show were to limit any of those relationships by making them about sex. ...And now I've gone and TL;DR'd all over everything, please excuse me.
...and yes, I would disagree with you over that. Although yours is damned definitely damned adorable, and also absurdly fluffilicious.

- I like the musicals!1 I sort of miss them, actually, the integrated big musical numbers, so even if it was lackluster, The Princess and the Frog really pleased me for that. :(
- Also I don't think Disney is the spawn of the Devil, or anything where a lot of people I knew got ... I'm not sure, too old? Too jaded? Too something and complained about the floofy too-easy happy-endings for Disney. And they have their points, but I still get this deep excited thrill at the end of The Lion King, when Simba ascends Pride Rock and it's raining and there's that one patch of starry sky with Mufasa's voice. IT IS MY FAVORITE MOVIEEEeeeee.
- If we count "what marketing is targeted to" as fandom, though, I reaaaaally don't like most of the Princess movies. Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty all sort of bore/irritate me; I like Sleeping Beauty a bit more because it has Maleficent. :T Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast were both good, but not ones that I love forever amen. (... that's pretty unpopular, among most of my friends, too.)
